Poncho
Designed by Diane Langan

Materials: 550 yards sport weight yarn. The blue poncho shown is
made with Red Heart Soft Baby Yarn in powder blue, 2 skeins. Size
H crochet hook..
Notes: Poncho will be much easier if you follow the graph
in. All motifs are worked clockwise. Weave in ends as you go and
clip loose strings as you go, this will make it much easier than
trying to get them all after the poncho is finished. Motifs 1- 30
are full size and 31 – 34 are ½ motifs.

NOTE: Motifs 29 and 30 will be worked the same as other motifs
but joining motif 29 on to 22, you will join the first worked side
and 3rd worked side. Motif 30 will join to 23 and you
will join as before joining the first 2 sides and the 4th
side.
Top Edge ½ Motifs
Motif 31 –34
First Petal: ch 5, join, ch 1, 10 sc , ch 6, turn * yo 3 times,
insert hook in same sc, yo, pull through, (yo, pull through 2 lps)
3 times, * rep from * to * once, yo, pull through all 3 lps.
Ch 5, sl st in 6th ch of ch 11 on motif 13, ch 5
Second Petal: *yo 3 times, insert hk in next sc, yo, pull through,
(yo, pull through 2 lps) 3 times, * rep from * to * once, yo, 3
times, insert hk in same sc, yo, pull through, (yo, pull through
2 lps) 3 times, yo pull through 4 lps.
Ch 3, sl st in 4th ch of ch 7 on motif 13, ch 3.
Repeat 2nd petal, ch 5, sl st in ch where motifs 12,
13 and 21 are joined, ch 5.
Repeat 2nd petal, ch 3, sl st in 4th ch of
ch 7 sp on motif 21, ch 3.
Repeat 2nd petal, ch 5, sl st in 6th, ch
of ch 11 on motif 21, ch 5.
Repeat 2nd petal but work only in the last sc and not
next sc as stated, fasten off.

Chained Fringe
Attach yarn in any ch 7 or ch 11 sm on out edge. *Ch
10, sl st in next ch sp* rep around, join, fasten off.
Fringe is worked in 2 short and 1 long loop pattern around. Adjust
bottom points to have 1 long, 1 short (very center), 1 long. After
working around the points be sure to repeat pattern matching other
side. This may require adjusting pattern and then continue around
to match opposite point to match the first.
Fringe: Attach yarn in any ch 10 sp, ch 50, sl st in next
ch 10 sp, ch 50, sl st in next ch 10 sp, ch 70, sl st in next ch
10 sp, rep around BUT when you work the bottom point in the
front and back work ch 70. Fasten off. |
