Working on right side, attach yarn in the 29th st of rnd 26 of hat, this is just before the 1st st of the brim, ch 1, sc in first sc of row 1 of brim, sc in each row and sc around brim you will work a sc in last st of row 1 of the brim, sl st 1st sc of rnd 26. Fasten off. Weave in all loose ends and felt.
Felting
Set your washing machine to the smallest load with hot water, place hat in hot bath and add 1 tbs. of laundry soap. Run agitation cycle only. (I leave the lid open on my machine so it does not spin). Check hat after first agitation cycle, if needed restart agitation cycle. (My machine it takes 2 full cycles to get the full felt affect). Check hat occasionally so you do not over felt. If hat seems too large still continue felting until you get the size you want. When the hat is the right size remove, DO NOT RUN SPIN CYCLE, and squeeze out excess water. Hand shape hat and let dry. If you have a bowl the right diameter of the finished size you want you can stretch the opening of the hap over the bowl to dry. You will want the top of the hat to be loose over the bowl so you can shape it to lie flat over the brim.
Finishing
Pick off any loose wool and brush lightly after hat has dried. If desired you can hand stitch the brim to the hangover of the top of the hat so it stays flat.
